Avoid cowboy removal offers & move with a removal company you can trust
We recently had a new customer who was moving to Europe stop in to our Manchester headquarters. This customer had been let down by a cowboy removals broker. Our customer originally visited a comparison website who provided prices for removals with various companies; our new customer chose one of these companies and paid up front via bank transfer.
Just days before the scheduled move, items needed to go into storage. When attempts were made to arrange this with the removal company he'd originally booked, this customer discovered the original removals company had gone into administration - and with this, the money paid in advance was gone. The company was not a member of the British Association of Removers (BAR), and because the payment was made by bank transfer, nothing could be done and a substantial amount of money has been lost.
Fortunately, we have been able to step in and assist our new customer, who can rest assured that the move is being handled by trained professionals at a company who has been performing removals since 1884 and, most importantly, is a member of the BAR.
We always welcome customers to stop into our offices in Manchester and Birmingham, so they can see our business and how we operate, and meet the people they deal with on the telephone. It is an important part of building trust with our customers - after all, they're entrusting us with their belongings. If your chosen removals company doesn't welcome you to their offices, take that as a red flag and consider looking for a different removals company.
When choosing a company for your house move, always check if they are a current member of the British Association of Removers before you make any commitments. In the unlikely event that a BAR member ceases trading before your removal is complete, you have the assurance that the BAR will find another of their member companies to perform your removal for you.
